On October 25th, 2022, Longyearbyen residents witnessed an unusual sight on the roads – a historic piece from Svea Airport, the tower, being transported by the local company LNS. Svea, a former coal mining town, had recently been closed down and the area restored. The tower, among other structures, was put up for sale and found a new home on the outskirts of Longyearbyen.
Despite its historical significance, the tower is now in private hands and not open to the public.
